Albion Rovers 1 - 1 East Fife

THIS was the result that suited neither side as the points were shared at chilly Cliftonhill.

Scorers: Albion Rovers - Dallas (31); East Fife - Willis (44)

Albion’s hopes of avoiding the automatic relegation slot took a jolt as the Fifers ended a run of five defeats to move the home side a step nearer towards the division three trapdoor.

Chris Dallas’ close range effort gave the home side the lead until Paul Willis equalised with a long range screamer just before the break. Despite dreadful conditions lashing Coatbridge both sides served up a highly entertaining encounter.

The home side’s pressure paid off in the 32nd minute when Pat Walker flicked a Gary Phillips cross to the back post for Dallas to tap home from close range.

However the visitors dragged themselves level in spectacular fashion a minute before the break.

Willis picked up a loose pass and from 35-yards he drilled an unstoppable volley past Albion keeper Ryan Scully. The goal seemed to make visiting boss Billy Brown’s half-time team talk much easier and the Bayview side emerged from the break the more dominant side..

Rovers stemmed the flow and both sides had chances to take maximum points in a frantic finale but they had to settle for a share of the points.
