Dunfermline: Pars United near target

Dunfermline fans group Pars United are closing in on their fundraising target of £100,000 as they move closer to owning the administration-hit club.

As of last night, supporters had raised £93,100, just £6,900 shy of their intended total.

Pars United, who are preferred bidders for the football club and the stadium, hope the “ordinary” fans’ donations will be allied with around £400,000 from wealthy supporters and local business figures. Their offer will be considered at a creditors meeting at East End Park on 30 July, during which Pars United will attempt to pass a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) to take control of the club.

However, even if the group succeeds in rescuing Dunfermline, continued fund-raising and fan contributions will be pivotal to see the SPFL League One outfit through the coming season. A Pars Supporters Trust spokesperson said: “This is a magnificent effort by all but we need to ask the supporters to help us with the final push.”
