Duncan Shearer: Inverness CT '˜overplayed' under John Hughes

Inverness Caledonian Thistle'¨are set for an exciting first season under new manager Richie Foran, according to the club's under-20 coach Duncan Shearer, who is already '¨feeling the winds of change after John Hughes left the club last month.

Speaking after the draw for the new look Irn-Bru Cup had handed Caley Thistle’s youngsters a home tie against Arbroath, Shearer reckons that the Highlanders will be more disciplined, determined, fitter and potent under Foran.

Shearer said: “I have had a couple of meetings with Richie
and they have been positive. He is going to bring a lot of discipline back, not that there was a lot missing, but different managers do different things.

“It is Richie’s first job and 
you can see the determination in his eyes.”

“All the staff are behind him and want him to do well as he was a terrific captain for the club. I cannot say for certain that Richie will be the man for the club but give him two years and then decide where we are.

“Everyone from the players to John Hughes, knew that Richie would become the manager at some stage. He has been management material
for a few years now. He is there now and we need to let him get on with it. The early signs 
are good.”

Shearer reckons that Inverness will have a punch that was lacking under Hughes. “I think at times last season Inverness overplayed,” Shearer said.

“As nice as it was, if you look at the European teams at the moment they are all whipping crosses into the box. If I 
was a striker, I would have found it frustrating playing under John.”
