Dumbarton 2 - 1 Albion Rovers: Agnew strike seals win

DUMBARTON moved up to seventh place in the Second Division following their 2-1 home success over bottom of the table Albion Rovers with watching Motherwell manager Stuart McCall seeing Fir Park youngsters kids Ross McKinnon and Steven Lawless netting for their on-loan clubs.

However, Scott Agnew’s goal was ultimately decisive.

McKinnon put Dumbarton ahead on 13 minutes with a fine strike when he picked up a James Creaney cross and fired low past Derek Gaston, who got a hand to McKinnon’s effort but could not keep it out.

Albion, who were forced into changing their game plan when striker John Gemmell arrived late due to traffic, came close before half-time when Tony Stevenson let fly with an angled drive that clipped a post.

But Dumbarton went two ahead as Agnew worked his way across the Rovers 18-yard line before burying a fierce shot. Lawless scored after a solo run, but Albion could not force a leveller.
