Dumbarton 0 - 0 Cowdenbeath: No goals at Bet Butler

NO GOALS and not a great deal to write home about as two poor teams served up an encounter as miserable as the weather with neither side doing enough to justify taking anything other than a share of the points.

Dumbarton had the better of an opening half that never really got off the ground, with Mark Gilhaney and Mitch Megginson firing wide of target and Jordan Kirkpatrick’s speculative volley smacking the face of the crossbar.

The visitors showed more after the break and were unlucky not to take the lead when Jamie Stevenson’s fizzing drive skipped off the by now sodden turf only to bounce back into play off the base of the post.

This was swiftly followed by another close call courtesy of a well-struck Jordan Morton effort as Cowdenbeath started to boss the midfield area against a home team visibly missing Scott Agnew’s craft and Hugh Murray’s graft from their engine room.

Colin Cameron’s visiting Fifers continued to carry the greater danger and again let Dumbarton off the hook 15 minutes from the end when this time Kane Hemmings couldn’t make the most of a presentable opening leaving both sides to be thankful for gleaning a solitary soggy point.
