Doyle and Jarvis inspire Wolves

WOLVES’ impressive start to the season continued yesterday as goals from Kevin Doyle and Matt Jarvis earned them victory over Fulham at Molineux.

The Cottagers, perhaps still giddy from their 3-0 Europa League win over Dnipro on Thursday, hounded Mick McCarthy’s men from the off, only to lose their grip on the game as Doyle and Jarvis made a persistent nuisance of themselves around Mark Schwarzer’s goal.

Three minutes before half-time, Doyle took a pass from Jarvis, beat two markers, turned and lashed the ball beyond Schwarzer.

Jarvis made it 2-0 in first-half stoppage time, tucking away a rebound after Roger Johnson had headed Stephen Hunt’s cross against the post.

Fulham manager Martin Jol’s second-half tactical and personnel changes did nothing to break Wolves’ hold on the game.
