Division two roundup: Queens leave it late

An INJURY-TIME goal from top scorer Nicky Clark salvaged a point for the league leaders.

Arbroath 1, Queen of the South 1

Lee Sibanda shot over the top for Arbroath in the early stages and, midway through the first half, Danny Carmichael was denied by Scott Morrison at the other end. Euan Smith gave Arbroath the lead in 83 minutes but Clark had the final say.

Alloa Athletic 0, Brechin City 1

Brechin closed the gap on second-placed Alloa by snatching three points.

Kevin Moon had a couple of chances for Alloa in the first half but it was Brechin who took the lead in 53 minutes.

Alan Trouten curled a right-foot shot beyond Scott Bain to put his side in front for what turned out to be the only goal.

Forfar Athletic 3, Stenhousemuir 3

John Gemmell set up an early goal for Stewart Kean but Omar Kader equalised for Forfar six minutes later.

Gemmell headed Stenhousemuir back in front after 31 minutes and four minutes later headed a third.

Iain Campbell pulled a goal back from a penalty eight minutes from half-time and Danny Denholm equalised in 77 minutes. Stenhousemuir’s Scott Buist was sent off late on.

Ayr United 2, Stranraer 1

Ayr hit Stranraer with two early goals. Adam Hunter opened the scoring after seven minutes from David Sinclair’s cross.

Four minutes later, Michael Donald netted the second after good work by John Robertson.

Craig Malcolm pulled a goal back with a right-foot shot after 68 minutes from Darren Gribben’s pass but it was to no avail.
