Scott Buist gave Brechin a 29th-minute lead with a right-foot shot but Arbroath sub Lee Sibanda headed a 36th-minute equaliser. Steven Doris and Paul McManus exchanged penalties before Gavin Swankie struck late to win it for the leaders.
