Division Two: Free-scoring Stranraer return to top spot as Annan push on in promotion bid

Annan 1, Clyde 0

Promotion-chasing Annan earned a precious 1-0 victory over Clyde at Galabank. Clyde goalkeeper David Crawford was busy in the first half, saving impressively from a Peter Watson and a Danny Mitchell drive. The winner came in the 64th minute when Sean O’Connor converted Aaron Muirhead’s cross and the hosts held on. Annan remain in third place while Clyde are seventh, seven points off the play-off spots.

Montrose 1, Stranraer 3

Stranraer came from behind to return to the top of the table. Martin Boyle fired the hosts ahead after only three minutes only for Craig Malcolm to set up Sean Winter for a slick leveller. Boyle and David McGowan both hit the woodwork for Montrose before Malcolm gave Stranraer the lead in the 73rd minute and ten minutes later Winter sealed the points with a third goal on the break..

Elgin City 3, East Stirlingshire 1

Stuart Leslie opened the scoring for Elgin in the 43rd minute but moments later the same player inexplicably handled the ball in the area to concede a penalty which Bradley Coyne duly converted. Leslie was again involved in Elgin’s crucial second goal as he set up Archie MacPhee who finished in style. In the closing stages, Jason Crooks made sure of an Elgin win as he slotted home Craig Gunn’s measured pass.
