Graeme Shepherd was the busier goalkeeper in the first half as Queen of the South pressed.

Nicky Clark came close early on with a shot which was just too high. Clark hit his 41st of the season – equalling the club record – with a 71st-minute volley to win the points.

Arbroath 0, Alloa Athletic 1

Arbroath missed out on the play-offs after falling to a last-minute goal from Scott Hynd.

Martin Grehan came close and Tony Bullock tipped a Ryan McCord effort over his crossbar. Arbroath threw everything forward in the second half but were punished late on.

East Fife 0, Brechin City 3

Brechin consigned East Fife to the relegation play-offs.

East Fife had their chances, Scott McBride and Paul Willis missing narrowly, but David McKenna broke the deadlock 20 minutes from time and Jonathan Brown scored twice late on.

Forfar Athletic 2, Ayr United 1

Forfar leapfrogged Arbroath to claim a promotion play-off place.

Chris Templeman gave them a 12th-minute lead, but Ayr were level after Michael Bolochoweckyj turned the ball into his own net. Iain Campbell restored Forfar’s lead after Ayr’s Darren Brownlie was sent off.

Stenhousemuir 1, Stranraer 2

Stranraer secured safety as Craig Malcolm gave them a fourth-minute lead but John Gemmell equalised after seeing David Mitchell save his penalty. Malcolm netted his second goal from the penalty spot before half-time. Stenhousemuir’s Greg Ross was sent off in the last minute.
