prospects.

The Perth club face Swiss side FC Luzern in a Europa League qualifier on 17 July and free agent Goodwillie is training with the Scottish Cup winners.

Manager Tommy Wright is keen to persuade the £2 million former Blackburn Rovers and Dundee United star to sign.

Fellow former Tangerine
Anderson said: “I was the year above Goodwillie when he came in as a kid at United. He did
really well and got his big move to England. If he does come here I think he will have a point to prove. That could benefit him. The boys know him and will back him all the way.

“There are some similarities between the way he plays and Stevie May, Mayso and Steven MacLean were on fire for us last season but with Nigel Hasselbaink leaving we need another striker.

“You never know what will happen with Mayso. He could move on so the gaffer has to be prepared for anything. The gaffer sees bringing in another striker as the top priority.”

Anderson added: “We’re looking forward to Europe again. That’s a bonus for us.

“We don’t know much about Luzern but there won’t be a fear factor. We are underdogs again but we are used to that in
Scotland. Rosenborg took us lightly over there.

“Hopefully, we can come up with another shock like we did against the Norwegians.

“We were prepared for
Europe last year and it will be the same again.”
