Speaking at the AGM, King addressed the club’s long wait for a new manager, saying the board were going through a very thorough process to find the right man. He stated there was a short-list of candidates and that there would be news on the matter soon.

The Rangers chairman was asked to comment on the “unacceptable delay” as it’s now been five weeks since Pedro Caixinha’s sacking with under-20s coach Graeme Murty leading the team.

King, though, took exception to the question, pointing out that the position of manager was very important and agreed the board needed to take their time to make.

The Ibrox chief refuted suggestions that the board had acted inappropriately by hiring Pedro Caixinha, saying there is a risk which comes with every appointment.

King also believed Graeme Park, son of Douglas Park, was “falsely alleged to have had undue influence” in hiring the Portuguese coach, saying the appointment was unanimously agreed by the board.
