Zanatta initially joined Hearts last summer on a two-year deal after leaving Vancouver Whitecaps in his homeland. He was signed as an under-20 player but forced his way into Robbie Neilson’s senior squad. He has now earned an extension after making ten appearances to date.

He will be involved again tomorrow as part of the squad which travels to Dens Park to face Dundee. However, the player told the Hearts website that he didn’t expect progress in Scotland to be so rapid.

“I didn’t expect it all to happen so quickly,” he said. “I’ve just gone on with it. I’ve started with the Under-20s and been progressing quite well recently, and moving forward into the first team has been really good.

“I’m really excited and really delighted to move forward so far. I’ve enjoyed my year here so far and I’m just looking forward to carrying on with it and push forward.”
