Craigroyston seek to end Preston run

The Central Taxis First Division match-of-the-day is undoubtedly leaders Preston Athletic against second placed Craigroyston at the Pennypit, kick-off 2.00pm.

Preston have won all six of their home league games scoring 21 goals in the process and conceding nine.

“Our home form is very pleasing,” said boss Stevie Myatt who has 18-year-old goalkeeper Shaun Thomson in for the injured Ross Gilpin, while defenders Craig Scott and Matt Costello are both clear of injuries.

“I am trying to keep people’s feet on the ground even although in every league game, except one, we have scored at least three goals.

“In our previous meeting with Craigroyston this season we beat them 3-0 although both sides had chances before we went ahead and then we applied ourselves very well.

“It’s no surprise to me that Craigroyston are up there challenging because George and his assistant Jock McGraw work hard to build successful teams. I have known George for over 30 years and he is someone who I regularly get in touch with to seek advice and guidance.

“Our teams have similar defensive records although we have scored more goals.”

Craigroyston manager George Bowmaker is also happy with his club’s start to the season. “Taking into account the fact that we have a new squad we are probably a wee bit better off than we thought we would be at this stage.”

Bowmaker will have the influential midfielder Jamie Stewart available while Kenny Manson is also in top form after an injury. Greg Irvine misses out because of a broken metatarsal.
