The SFA made the announcement earlier today for the matches that will take place on January 30 and January 31.

Steven McLean will handle Hibernian’s meeting with St Johnstone at Tynecastle. The whistler found himself at the heart of a controversy storm following last year’s Scottish Cup semi between Inverness and Celtic.

McLean was one of five officials who failed to spot a handball by Caley Thistle’s Josh Meekings on the goal-line, which would have sent the underdogs down to ten men and a likely two goal deficit. Instead, Meekings stayed on and John Hughes’ men came back to win 3-2.

Celtic will be hoping no similar errors are made by match official Craig Thomson when they take on Inverness’ near rivals Ross County.

Although, the veteran referee has already drawn the ire of the champions this season, with Leigh Griffiths criticising his display in the 2-1 defeat suffered by the league leaders at Aberdeen.
