It was the second week in a row that Airdrie threw away valuable points at the end of games, having let a late 3-1 lead slip against Dunfermline last Saturday, leaving them ten points behind Cowdenbeath.

After surviving the initial flurry from the hosts, Airdrie took the lead with their first attack of the game; Jordan Morton keeping his cool when through on goal to pass the ball beyond the keeper.

However, their lead was quickly wiped away with Cowdenbeath levelling less than 60 seconds later, Mark McKenzie firing in off the far post after the ball had broken to him 12 yards out.

Controversy would play its part in the third goal. The hosts should never have been awarded the corner which led to Greg Stewart tapping home from Scott Linton’s cut-back.

The goal of the game belonged to Jordan Kirkpatrick, whose shot on the turn from 25 yards arrowed into the bottom corner. It looked enough for a point until Moore’s late intervention.
