Cowdenbeath 2 - 2 Livingston: Cowdenbeath late leveller

A LATE goal gave Cowdenbeath a vital point at Central Park last night in their battle to avoid
the First Division relegation play-offs.

Scorers: Cowdenbeath: G Stewart (35), McKenzie (90); Livingston: Watson (7), Barr (71)

Livingston looked like they had got all three points through a thunderous Craig Barr shot which gave home keeper Thomas Flynn no chance midway through the second-half, but the Fife outfit were worth a point overall.

The visitors went ahead in five minutes. They won a corner on the left and four players went for Liam Fox’s set-piece on the edge of the home six-yard box and Paul Watson just got to the ball first to divert it wide of Flynn.

But 11 minutes from the break the home side levelled the game. Flynn’s long kick-out was made a mess of by the Livingston central defence and Greg Stewart ran clean through and after his first shot was blocked by Andy McNeill he followed up to shoot into the empty net.

With the game sagging, Livingston struck with a wonder strike with 20 minutes to go. Craig Barr ran from defence and 35 yards out unleashed an unsaveable shot which flew high into the net. However, despite the goal giving the visitors renewed confidence, with 60 seconds of normal time left, Marc McKenzie fired low into the net after good work by Stewart.
