Cowdenbeath 1-1 Raith Rovers : Blue Brazil rescue point

Cowdenbeath substitute Greg Stewart struck from close range nine minutes from time to grab what could be a vital point in the Blue Brazil’s fight for survival.

The first half was a slog with Raith’s best opening coming on 13 minutes when top scorer Brian Graham had a header diverted a couple of yards over the home bar.

The Blue Brazil’s first chance came on the half-hour mark when on-loan Rangers striker Kane Hemmings drilled a Lewis Coult knock-down just wide.

The Kirkcaldy visitors came out for the second half with a more determined approach and, after Graham had a shot turned wide three minutes into the restart, he ran in to meet Allan Walker’s corner and net with a header that squeezed in via a post.

The goal opened the game up and Pat Clarke had a low effort turned away by home goalkeeper Thomas Flynn with Cowdenbeath almost levelling from a lightning break that saw Lewis Milne denied by David McGurn.

The home side had better fortune nine minutes from the end of the match when substitute Craig Moore’s shot was saved, but wasn’t parried to safety and Stewart stroked home the rebound.
