Cove Rangers back to top with 7-0 rout

COVE Rangers surged back top of the Highland League by shooting down Turriff United 7-0 at home.

The Aberdeen club took full advantage of Wick Academy’s call-off to regain the top spot by a point.

Connor Scully’s got the opener after 12 minutes and Eric Watson doubled the lead on the half hour. Turriff were over-run after the break with Mark Smith, Jordan Leyden, Danny Milne and Lewis Macaulay on target before Scully grabbed his second.

Nairn County edged out Clachnaccudin in a five-goal thriller at Station Park.

Les Fridge’s County side were 3-0 up at the break but the spirited Lilywhites gave them a fright in the second period. John Cameron with two goals and Robbie Duncanson had Nairn in control before Scott Graham and Gordon Morrison struck back.

Calum Dingwall’s late goal gave Formartine a 2-1 victory at Lossiemouth.

Brora saw off Strathspey 3-0 with a double from Craig Ross and another from Steven Mackay.

Deveronvale’s Robert Morrice was the matchwinner with a solitary strike at Buckie, Forres Mechanics thrashed Rothes 8-1 with Ross Archibald netting five and Inverurie Locos beat Fort William 4-2. Keith won 3-2 at Fraserburgh.
