Cove face Thistle in final

COVE Rangers’ Paul Emslie scored two free kicks in their 3-0 Highland League Cup semi-final win over Turriff.

Double-chasing Rangers will now face Buckie Thistle at Banff in the final on 12 May.

Former Peterhead player Emslie was quick to deflect any praise to his team-mates and insisted his deadly double was long overdue. He said: “I’ve been trying all season to score goals like that. I’m just delighted to help put us through but the whole team deserve credit.”

Thistle booked their place with a 3-1 home win over Keith, Shawn Scott’s hat-trick outdoing an Andy McAskill strike.

In the Highland League, the top three were idle due to the cup, but Fraserburgh grabbed fourth place with a 1-0 victory over bottom side Fort William. Graham Johnston got the goal.

Michele Lombardi, Kris Duncan and Scott Hendry were on target as Deveronvale won 3-0 at home to Clach.
