Clyde denied much-needed win as ten-man Forfar escape with point

Interim Clyde co-manager Peter MacDonald briefly threatened to inspire the Bully Wee to their first win since November, but leaders Forfar escaped Broadwood with their six-point lead intact despite finishing the 2-2 draw with ten men.

Goalkeeper Grant Adam was sent off 16 minutes from time after aiming a foul-mouthed tirade at referee Scott Millar and, having used three subs, the visitors were unable to bring on a specialist keeper.

Danny Denholm fired Forfar ahead early on, but MacDonald’s penalty and David Gormley’s goal turned the game on its head after the break. Jim Lister levelled for Forfar before Adam saw red .

Neither second-placed Arbroath nor Elgin in third could capitalise on Forfar’s draw as they drew 0-0 at Borough Briggs. Richard Little’s late dismissal did not prevent Arbroath making it four games unbeaten.

Annan Athletic strengthened their grip on a play-off spot with a 3-2 win at Montrose. The visitors were 3-1 up after 23 minutes following strikes from Rabin Omar, Max Wright and Steven Swinglehurst. Gary Fraser was on target for the home side, but shortly before half-time he missed from the penalty spot. Kerr Hay did cut the deficit and Darren Ramsay’s straight red forced Annan to see out the last half hour with ten men. Cowdenbeath suffered a seventh straight defeat, losing 2-0 at home to Stirling Albion to leave them seven points adrift at the bottom. Ross Smith fired the Binos ahead and Sean Dickson doubled their lead.

Edinburgh City v Berwick Rangers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Meadowbank.
