Clyde bring Annan down to earth at Galabank

Annan were not able to enjoy last Saturday’s 2-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox for long as they crashed back to earth with a 1-0 loss to Clyde at Galabank at the weekend.

The decisive moment came right on half-time when John Sweeney stroked home a penalty after Iain Chisholm had fouled Kevin Watt – the win lifting the Bully Wee off the foot of the table.

Berwick climbed into third place as they defeated hosts East Stirling 3-0. The Shire, who are now in bottom spot, were still reeling for their 9-1 hammering from Stirling Albion last Saturday and defender Ricky Miller unfortunately opened the scoring when he turned a Lee Currie corner into his own goal midway through the first half.

Scott Dalziel headed the second before half-time with substitute Kevin McDonald striking the third with 18 minutes to go.

Montrose lost 6-0 to rampant visitors Peterhead, with Rory McAllister grabbing a hat-trick on top of Ryan McCann’s strike and Andy Rodgers’ double. The home side failed to capitalise on a penalty early in the game when Jamie Winter’s spot kick was saved by Graeme Smith.
