Cillian upstaged – by his sweater

CILLIAN Sheridan’s remarkable Christmas sweater might be advised to hire its own agent after comfortably outshining its owner on Sunday night’s edition of Sportscene.

The St Johnstone player ended up trending on Twitter – not that ‘trend’ is a word you would associate with the seriously chunky bit of knitwear he chose to sport while guest on the programme. Red as Rudolph’s nose, the sweater made a greater impression on the programme than Sheridan, something he himself admitted. “Hopefully the jumper distracted people from my punditry! #monotone,” he commented on Twitter later. The public’s view was harsher: next time, don’t choose a sweater with more personality than yourself.
