Charleston Battery 1-2 Rangers: Windass and Forrester earn win

AMERICAN defender Oguchi Onyewu will find out later today if he will be offered a contract with Rangers having been on trial for 10 days in South Carolina.

The 34-year-old centre back played 66 minutes in two spells in the friendly against the third tier American side on Daniel’s Island, Charleston as goals from Josh Windass and Harry Forrester secured victory.

Manager Mark Warburton said: “We wanted to give him as much time as possible. We will have a chat with him later and we will see how we go from there.

Windass converted in 58 minutes after good work from Michael O’Halloran on the right side

The Ibrox side scored a second goal in 76 minutes when Barrie McKay threaded a good pass to Harry Forrester in the inside right channel and he took a touch before driving a low right foot shot into the left corner.

With nine minutes remaining the local side countered with a spectacular strike when Atuallah Guerra got in behind Onyewu to smash a volley past Matt Gilks from a tight angle on the right side of the six-yard box.
