Changing room chat: Reid’s gone, but gong not forgotten

The English FA is to replace the FA Cup medal former England midfielder Peter Reid auctioned off to help pay the wages at a cash-strapped club he managed.

Despite Reid selling the medal and helping to pay a heating bill at Plymouth out of his own pocket, he was fired last month as manager of the bottom club in the fourth tier of English football. Throughout the turmoil, it was left to Reid to persuade the players not to strike while not receiving full salaries. Now, though, he is going to receive another copy of the 1986 FA Cup runner-up medal.
