MANCHESTER City have announced that all tickets for their post-season friendly against Chelsea in the United States sold out within 20 minutes of going on sale.

City will play the Londoners in a match at the home of St Louis Cardinals, Busch Stadium, on 23 May. The stadium has a capacity of 46,861 and is now guaranteed one of the largest crowds in its history.

Relief for Barcelona over Messi injury

Heskey extends his stay in Australia

Former England striker Emile Heskey has signed a new contract with the Australian A-League side Newcastle Jets, which will keep him Down Under until 2014.

The 35-year-old moved to Australia in September last year and went on to score nine goals in 23 appearances for the Jets, earning a nomination for the club’s Player of the Year award. He will now stay for a further 12 months.

Warnock aims a jibe at Hughes’ work

EX-Leeds manager Neil Warnock wants Mark Hughes to replace him at Elland Road so he can “destroy another team of mine”. The Welshman took over from Warnock at Queens Park Rangers in January 2012 and has been out of work since leaving Loftus Road in November. Hughes, 49, has been linked with the vacancy at Leeds following Warnock’s departure on Monday. Warnock said yesterday: “I personally hope Mark Hughes follows me again and destroys another team of mine. ”

U19 girls face four games in six days

SCOTLAND coach Anna Signeul faces four games in six days when the women’s U19 side start the next phase of their Uefa 2013 Championship campaign at Livingston tonight. Having successfully come through the first qualifying round, Scotland host the second round group. They play Denmark tonight, Ukraine on Saturday and Austria on Tuesday. With under-19 coach Shelley Kerr having departed to take the manager’s job at Arsenal, Signeul will attempt to take the Scots through to the finals in Wales later this year.
