Changing room chat: Big Jim takes trip down memory lane

JIM Leishman and Davie Wilson are the star guests at this week’s Alzheimer Scotland Sportsman’s Dinner at Hampden Park, a fund-raiser for the excellent Football Reminiscence Project.

In the spirit of the evening, Big Leish is sure to take guests on a stroll down memory lane – otherwise known as the Cuddy Road, from Lochgelly to his beloved Dunfermline, while Rangers hero Davie might not want to reminisce too much about one of his first games for Scotland, at Wembley in 1961, but would perhaps prefer to look back on a 6-2 win against Spain in the Bernabeu.

The project is a joint-venture between Alzheimer Scotland and the Scottish Football Museum, and involves training volunteers to spend time with people with dementia who have an interest in football, talking about the teams and matches of the past and working with visual images to stimulate memories.

Guests at Friday night’s dinner will get a chance to have a look around the Scottish Football Museum, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary with a special exhibition.
