Celtic centre back Erik Sviatchenko could potentially miss the biggest game of his young Parkhead career as he struggles to recover from a thigh injury in time for next weekend's Old Firm semi-final, according to reports.

The Danish international sustained the injury during Celtic’s 0-0 draw with Dundee on Tuesday and he’ll definitely be missing for tomorrow’s trip to Fir Park.

Both the Daily Record and Scottish Sun are reporting that he’s a major doubt for the clash with Old Firm rivals Rangers the following weekend.

It was be a huge blow for Ronny Deila. The Dane has been a steady influence in the Celtic defence since arriving in the January transfer window. Without his presence, and due to the long-term absence of Jozo Simunovic, Celtic will likely be forced into selecting a centre back partnership of much-maligned duo Dedryck Boyata and Efe Ambrose.
