The Celtic defender was sent off at New Douglas Park last Friday for a challenge on Hamilton’s Carlton Morris.

Ronny Deila initially said referee Craig Thomson had made the correct decision.

But the Parkhead manager then changed his mind after watching video of the incident and Celtic submitted an appeal which freed up Boyata to play against Dundee on Wednesday night.

However, the appeal was dismissed and Boyata has been suspended.

He will miss Celtic’s next league game against Partick Thistle at Firhill on 12 March.
