Eddie Howe’s appointment as Celtic manager is ‘edging closer’ with the finishing touches on his backroom team being applied. The 43-year-old is keen to bring Scotland international Richard Hughes as director of football from Bournemouth, with former Celtic striker Mark Burchill lined up for a coaching role (The Daily Mail)

Scottish football bodies and clubs could unite in their suspension of social media use in protest at recent online abuse. Rangers players have already conducted a week-long boycott of online platforms and similar is being planned in England this weekend. Talks have been held north of the border (The Scottish Sun)

Rangers are interested in Vitesse centre-back Danilho Doekhi, but face competition from Newcastle United and Norwich City. The former Ajax Academy product has been an impressive performer in the Dutch league for the past three seasons (The Telegraph)

Transfer links with Ianis Hagi and a move away from Rangers have arisen again and long-term admirer, Sevilla sporting director Monchi is keen to link the Romanian with coach Julian Lopetegui for next season’s Champions League campaign (Daily Record)

Swoop for Saints’ spot-kick hero

Aberdeen are said to be lining up a move for ST Mirren’s late goal hero Jamie McGrath. The midfielder has hit late goals in the Buddies’ quarter final clashes this season and helped send Jim Goodwin’s side to Hampden for a second time against Kilmarnock.
