'Soro is Celtic's Kante', 'Turnbull immense', 'Wake-up call to Lennon' - Celtic fans react to win over Lille

David Turnbull’s first goal for Celtic earned an impressive Europa League victory over Lille – and relieved some of the pressure on manager Neil Lennon.

The 3-2 victory may have counted for little in that Parkhead side were already eliminated from the competition, but it meant that for the first time in weeks, the post-match social media reaction barely mentioned the name of the Celtic manager.

Instead, Hoops fans were gushing in their praise of the youngsters who made their mark with Turnbull scoring one and having a hand in the other goals scored by Christopher Jullien and a Calum McGregor penalty, with Ismaila Soro earning rave reviews for his display in midfield.

Marc McArdle (@marcmcardle1): Much, much, much more like it @CelticFC. The best result and performance of the season, and hopefully a wake up call to the manager. Turnbull and Soro immense. Henderson excellent. Hazard didn’t put a foot wrong. Play them on Sunday Neil.

Kieran (@Kieran_Celtic): Hazard, Turnbull and Soro have got to be the first names on that team sheet against Kilmarnock. Back the team on Sunday

Patrick Murphy (@PatrickMurphy89): Soro and Turnbull must start on Sunday. Brown is a legend but he has had his time as a regular. We must build on this. Imagine beating Kilmarnock and then winning the cup final. We'd finally be back to a decent run

Damon Weir (@DamonW44): start him and soro every game, win the league simple

Buff Egan (@buff_egan): Turnbull & Soro gave Neil Lennon's undroppable's the kick up the a**e they've needed for the last 3 months!

Richard Doyle (@D4Doyle): Soro and Turnbull need to be played the next 5 game at least they were absolutely tremendous. Soro is Brown’s replacement and he hardly put a foot wrong, he is Celtic’s Kante. Christie doesn’t offer what Turnbull does and it was honestly a joy to watch. This is the team!

Patrick Murphy (@PatrickMurphy89): What an effort from Soro & Turnbull. Absolutely epic and they both fully deserve to start on Sunday. We played well and it's been a while since we can say that.

Frimmers (@I_C_Celtic): Turnbull, Soro and Henderson all securing positions in the team for Sunday. Fantastic fight from the team tonight. That’s all we ask for, a bit of fight about us. Fans can accept getting beat but can’t accept the performances of late. Kick on from now and let’s fight this out

Fitzp89 (@Fitzp89C): Credit where it’s due. Has to get that back 3 out every week and turnbull has to play. Thought Duffy organised the team fantastically, never stopped talking. Soro was good and most importantly we closed the opposition down quickly and shape was much better.

Naweed Sadiq (@Suave_Nav): What a performance from Soro! Was all over the place and won so much!! Surely a spot on to start. Beautiful goal by Turnbull, elegance and a fantastic delivery. Even Klimala ran his socks off! Give these lads a chance. Stop sticking with the same old same old.

omndoh! (@omndoh): about time we had a performance like that, just need to continue on like that. Turnbull starting every week, soro getting more chances and defence needs to strengthen up a slight bit more. still lennon out right now but if this continues, may have to change my mind.
