SCOTTISH FA compliance officer Vincent Lunny is looking into allegations that Celtic’s Aleksandar Tonev racially abused Aberdeen full-back Shay Logan, Scottish FA president Campbell Ogilvie has announced.

The ruling body yesterday received referee Bobby Madden’s report from Saturday’s Premiership fixture at Parkhead, where Logan informed him, Aberdeen skipper Mark Reynolds and manager Derek McInnes after the alleged second-half incident took place.

Lunny is likely to ask for an explanation of the incident and seek more information before deciding whether there is sufficient evidence to issue a notice of complaint.

Ogilvie, speaking after helping make the William Hill Scottish Cup second-round draw in Glasgow, said: “The Scottish FA have received a complaint and it is now in the hands of our compliance officer and it will go through the process.

“The compliance officer will have to take care of it.

“I can’t comment on the case but it is it not something that comes up very often, obviously.”

Fourth official Crawford Allan and Celtic were also made aware of the allegation by the Aberdeen management team. A Celtic spokesperson said on Sunday: “We have spoken to the player and he has stated that the accusation made is not true.”

Bulgaria winger Tonev, 24, was making his belated Celtic debut in the 2-1 victory after arriving at Parkhead this summer on a one-year loan deal from Aston Villa with a groin injury.
