Scottish Football transfer RECAP: Celtic's ex-striker 'completes' Madrid deal, Championship move for young Rangers midfielder

Rangers and Celtic have been linked with making moves – but nothing has come to fruition yet as the Scottish transfer window approaches the half-way stage. Will that change this evening?

Scott Wright is a name on every Rangers supporters’ lips after yesterday’s confirmation that Steven Gerrard was keen on taking the Aberdeen winger to Ibrox. How and when is the topic of discussion and could there be a Greg Stewart-shaped makeweight in an early deal?

We’ll have to wait and see, and Celtic will also play the waiting game over their sell-on clause for Moussa Dembele. The Hoops installed the future payments in the Frenchman’s transfer to Lyon but now that he’s moved to Atletico Madrid, according to sources, there could be money coming to Parkhead… only not just yet.

The former Fulham striker’s move to the Spanish La Liga leaders is on an initial loan until the end of the season. The wait may be worth it though with the fee set in the region of £33m, and Celtic could be due a slice.

Chris Cadden’s protracted move from Columbus Crew in America to Hibs is also still not over the line two weeks after the initial link – but could it be done soon? And Hearts are still to sign the target man Robbie Neilson had an eye on.

Elsewhere away from the wheeling and dealing, a row is brewing from today’s SPFL meeting which included, amongst other topics, the enforced winter break for all football clubs outside the 22 in the top two leagues of the SPFL, with Falkirk calling for ‘urgent change’.

There’s also some on the field action too, this evening, as Aberdeen and Livingston meet in West Lothian.
