With the domestic season wrapping up and no other competitive internationals scheduled before June, Steve Clarke will already have a very good idea of who will be in his 23-man squad for this summer’s Euros.
However, it does appear the national team boss will have at least another couple of places to decide with Uefa likely to allow squads to be extended to either 25 or 26 players.
If we can assume that the last Scotland squad for the World Cup qualification triple-header against Austria, Israel and Faroe Islands was made up of players highly likely to be on the bus to Hampden, then that leaves around another dozen promising hopefuls who could find themselves squeezing into the final unit.
We look at each of those candidates...

. David Turnbull
Considering his superior form over either Ryan Christie or Callum McGregor this season, he may be among the first in line at a call-up if squads are extended. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group
. Ryan Gauld
It would likely be only one of Turnbull or Gauld brought in as an extra central playmaker. The Farense midfielder has experience on his side. Photo: SNS Group Bruce White
. Oli Burke
The Sheffield United attacker has been in recent squads, while his relative versatility (he can play up front or on the wing) may work in his favour. Photo: Ross MacDonald - SNS Group / SFA

A staple of Scotland squads before injury ruined his season, he's among the most likely to be included if extra places are granted. Can play as a supporting striker or at wing-back. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group
