Christie was signed by the Parkhead club on the final day of the summer transfer window and immediately loaned back to Inverness.

He suffered the injury during Inverness’ win over Motherwell earlier this month and is expected to miss around four weeks.

The player’s rehab will take place at Celtic Park and the club are taking every precaution by sending him to a London specialist.

Christie was signed by Celtic for £500,000. Last year he won the Scottish Cup with Inverness CT and was awarded with the football writer’s player of the year award.

This season he has netted three goals in 16 appearances.
