I’m your man, Hasselbaink tells Hibs

FORMER Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has told Hibs chiefs that he is the man to lead Hibs back into the Premiership, after emerging as a shock candidate to replace Terry Butcher.

Hasselbaink, who had a coaching spell with Nottingham Forest has quit as manager of Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp, and is seeking re-employment in the UK.

And his agent has said: “Jimmy is a proven winner and a great young coach. If Hibs were interested in speaking to Jimmy, we would be interest in hearing the club’s plans and the chief executive’s plans.”

Scotland Under-17 coach Scott Gemmill has also been linked with the vacant post. (The Sun)

Murray ‘in no hurry’ to take Hibs job

FORMER Hibs captain Ian Murray has warned that there is no guarantee he would take the reins at Easter Road if offered the job.

Murray, who has been installed as the bookies’ favourite, has won plaudits for his work at Dumbarton, but the 33-year-old told reporters: “People think - a bit disrespectfully to myself and Dumbarton - that I would automatically jump at the chance.

“It’s an attractive job but you have to think about long-term ambitions and where you want to go. It’s not a closed-book case.” (Various)

Rangers fans fear Charles Green return

RANGERS fans have spoken of their dismay as former Ibrox chief executive Charles Green has resurfaced amid reports he is lining up a new bid for the club.

Green, who led the consortium that bought the club in May 2012 and raised £22 million through a share issue, is reportedly seeking financial backing in a fresh bid to regain control of the club, with the BBC claiming that the former Sheffield United chief having already held talks with potential investors.

But supporters chiefs have expressed their fears that Green may make a third return to the club, after initially coming back in an advisory capacity.

Fans’ chief Drew Roberton told the Daily Express that Green would not be welcome at Ibrox, adding: “I certainly don’t think this would make the relationship between board and fans any better, would it?

“Any involvement by Green would be viewed with scepticism. It would be astonishing if he was allowed back in.” (Daily Express)

Collins set to be named as Deila’s assistant

EX-Hibs boss and former Celtic midfielder John Collins is set to be unveiled as Ronny Deila’s No 2, despite reports linking him with a return to Easter Road.

Collins is set to team up with the Norwegian boss before pre-season training gets underway, having met Deila last week.

The 46-year-old’s knowledge of the Scottish game will be seen as a boost for the new manager, who arrives in Scotland with no management experience outwith his homeland.

And former Parkhead defender John Kennedy is also set to return to the side as a first team coach. (Daily Record)
