‘Wanyama will interest top sides’, says Pirlo

VICTOR Wanyama will interest a number of top clubs in Europe this summer, according to his Champions League adversary Andrea Pirlo.

The Juventus midfielder praised the Kenyan’s ability, and said that even in the 3-0 defeat the Celtic man showed plenty of quality.

Pirlo said: “He has the quality and physical attributes to boss games.

“In the summer I would expect there to be interest in him from some of the biggest teams in Europe.” (Record)

Stalemate on league plans, Longmuir admits

SFL boss David Longmuir has admitted that there has been no further movement on controversial reconstruction plans, and that there is still no clarity over which tier the likes of Rangers will be playing in.

Longmuir said: “The honest answer is there have been no discussions as to where Rangers will play if they win the Third Division.

“We’re still debating whether we should proceed with the 12-12-18 model or invite two new clubs to join and switch to 12-12-10-10.” (Record)

FORMER Hull City boss Phil Brown has applied for the vacant managerial role at Hearts.

Vucinic: ‘Celtic have no hope’

MIRKO Vucinic has told Celtic that they have no chance of overcoming their 3-0 deficit to Juventus.

The Montenegrin, who was on the scoresheet at Celtic Park, said: “The tie is already over after events in Glasgow.

“Celtic cannot overcome a 3-0 deficit and we’re totally calm ahead of the second leg.”

Vucinic added that the Hoops should expect a full-strength and fully-committed performance from the Bianconieri. He said: “I don’t know if the coach will make changes, but even if he does it won’t be an issue.

“The squad at Juventus is very talented and we have the strength in depth to take care of Celtic.” (Express)

Oshinawa doesn’t know what happened to Celtic deal

NIGERIAN defender Juwon Oshaniwa has admitted he has no idea why his proposed January deal to Celtic did not materialise.

Oshaniwa said: “I talked with (Celtic’s) chief scout. He told me he expected the transfer to go through.

“But I don’t know what went wrong.

“It’s not a problem for me because I believe something good will eventually happen.” (Various)

SFA to remain in cross-border talks

THE SFA will continue to take part in talks over possible cross-border leagues.

SFA chief Stewart Regan said: “There is a move for supra-national leagues. Latvia and Lithuania, for example, were exploring the possibility.

“It’s a senstivie issue... but that is why the SFA will continue to participate in those type of discussions.”

The news will please Rangers owner Charles Green, who has publicly sought a move to the English leagues for the team. (Record)
