Mjallby says Van Dijk is worth £8m

Johan Mjallby says he isn’t surprised that Virgil Van Dijk is attracting interested from Europe’s top clubs and believes the Dutchman, signed from Groningen last summer, is more than capable of playing at the top level. The assistant manager also believes it will take big money for Celtic to sell their star defender, after an outstanding season, he said: “I definitely think Virgil is worth at least £8m. I would be surprised if he doesn’t play for a top team in the future.” (Mail)

Paul Hartley and Dundee made to sweat

Dundee boss Paul Hartley branded Morton amateurs after they lost 10-2 to Hamilton and almost cost Dundee the chance for promotion. The Dens side beat Dumbarton 2-1 but almost conceded a second penalty, that would have seen them lose out to Hamilton on goal difference in the bid for promotion. He said: “When do you see a game finishing 10-2 on the last day? You don’t even see that in amateur football. If you’re a professional football team you shouldn’t lose 10-2 but we did the business.” The Dundee boss also believes his team were lucky not to concede a second penalty, saying: “It looked like Dumbarton could have had another penalty but you get the decisions going your way at times to win a game. Craig Gordon target for Rangers

Rangers manager Ally McCoist wants Craig Gordon to go head to head with Cammy bell as his first choice keeper in the Championship next season. The former Scotland No 1 has been without a club for two seasons due to knee injuries, however the 33-year-old has been training with the Ibrox side and Ally McCoist believes he is ready to play regularly again. Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes believes referee Iain Brines denied his team a penalty at Parkhead on Saturday and that could have cost them the chance to win.
