Terry Butcher being lined up as new Hibs boss

Inverness manager Terry Butcher is being lined up to replace Pat Fenlon as the new manager of Hibs, according to reports this morning.

Rod Petrie is understood to be keen to sign up Butcher whose deal expires at the end of the season. He has not yet signed an extension. (Record)

• Pat Fenlon said he had made his mind up to quit his post as Hibs manager before this week’s League Cup loss to city rival’s Hearts

• The former Derry City boss led Hibs to two Scottish Cup finals during his two years at Easter Road with one ending in a 5 - 1 loss to Hearts. His reign was also marred by a 7 - 0 loss to Malmo.

• Other contenders for the Hibs job include former Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels, former Hibs boss Tony Mowbray, ex-Scotland boss Craig Levein and former Hibs captain Ian Murray.

Caretaker manager Jimmy Nicholl is also in the frame.

Bookies also have Jimmy Calderwood, Paul Hartley, Alex McLeish and Derek Adams as outside bets.
