They remain at the bottom of Group A with two points from four games, although their fate does still rest in their own hands after Ajax and Fenerbahce drew 0-0 in Amsterdam.

“I don’t think about my position. That’s for other people to write about,” said Deila after the loss. (The Scotsman)

SPFL to hold emergency meeting over Rangers EBT verdict

THE SPFL will today hold crisis talks to discuss what course of action, if any, is to be taken in the aftermath of the Big Tax Case verdict against Rangers.

On Wednesday the Court of Session ruled in favour of HMRC that oldco Rangers were liable to pay tax on the Employee Benefit Trusts given to players and managers.

It is believed that, having initially ruled on the issue back in 2012, when the league was governed under the SPL body, the SPFL feel powerless to hand out any fresh punishment to Rangers. (Daily Mail)

Mark Warburton: EBT verdict won’t derail Rangers title bid

SHOULD Mark Warburton ever have been in any doubt about the unrelenting focus of media and public attention on Rangers then events of the last few days will have put them to bed.

The club has been a poster boy for maladministration during the 21st century but bad news has been accelerating towards them this week and Warburton insists that he and his players must shut out the white noise which is threatening to engulf the Light Blues.

“It’s important that we don’t [have an opinion on the current difficulties],” he claimed. “Our job, as a football department, is to focus on th football.

Jason Cummings ditched fried food to improve form

THE chippies’ loss has been Hibernian’s gain after Jason Cummings revealed how ditching battered Mars Bars has helped him satisfy his appetite for goals.

The 20-year-old is currently in the best form of his career, scoring six times in his last six appearances, including a clinically converted penalty kick in Wednesday night’s 3-0 League Cup win over Dundee United.

That prolific streak was acknowledged yesterday when the Scotland under-21 internationalist was named Ladbrokes Championship player of the month for October, ensuring double delight for the Easter Road side with Alan Stubbs claimed the manager’s award. (The Scotsman)

Rangers look to sign City youngster George Glendon

RANGERS manager Mark Warburton is keen to tie up a deal to sign Manchester City youngster George Glendon.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been training with the Ibrox club recently as he looks to find regular first-team football.

It is not known yet whether Rangers will be looking to sign the player permanently or take on another loan deal as they look to establish links with another English Premier League club. (Daily Record)

Ryan Jack: No rift with McInnes or Dons infighting

RYAN Jack insists Derek McInnes is still Aberdeen’s special one as far as the players are concerned after dismissing as “ridiculous” suggestions of ructions between the squad and their manager.

The Dons captain has been annoyed by rumours of infighting at Pittodrie in the wake of a run of six games without a win that has seen them crash out of the League Cup and turn a five-point advantage over Celtic at the top of the table into a seven-point deficit.

Now, in the build up to this weekend’s visit from bottom club Dundee United, Jack has moved to dispel the notion that unrest behind the scenes has anything to do with their alarming slump in form. (The Scotsman)

Jon Daly: Hearts coaching ‘too good to turn down’

JON Daly will hang up his boots in the New Year with “excitement” after confessing he found the opportunity to cut his teeth as the under-20s coach at Hearts under Craig Levein too hard to turn down.

The former Dundee United and Rangers striker will see out his short-term contract with Raith Rovers first and is determined to make the most of the two months he has left by ending his playing days on a high.

It is a move into coaching he did not expect to arise until another couple of years further down the line but something he always planned would be the next step in a career that began as a trainee at Stockport County back in 1998. (The Scotsman)

Jason Cummings: I’m in no rush to leave Hibs

JASON Cummings today admitted having scouts flock to Easter Road to watch him in action is a huge compliment – but insisted he’s in no hurry to leave Hibs,

The 20-year-old made it six goals in as many matches as he scored from the spot to send Premiership strugglers Dundee United crashing out of the League Cup, taking his tally for the season to 12 and making it an astonishing 36 goal in just 52 starts in a green and white shirt.

Those statistics, unsurprisingly, have created huge interest elsewhere, with Rotherham United and Fulham among those credited in the past few days with keeping close tabs on the striker, while Swansea City have previously had bids knocked back by the Capital outfit. (Edinburgh Evening News)
