Rebel Rangers fan Houston vows to fight on

Rangers fan Craig Houston says he will carry on his campaign to topple the current Rangers regime despite director Sandy Easdale dropping a £200,000 law suit against him.

Easdale launched a bid to force the Sons of Struth founder into the Court of Session over the comments made on the group’s Facebook page. (Record)

Mjallby keen to manage in Sweden

Celtic assistant coach Johan Mjallby is keen to manage a club in his native Sweden having served his apprenticeship under manager Neil Lennon.

The 43 year-old says he is content at Parkhead for now but would be “excited” by the prospect of managing former club AIK or being involved in the Swedish national set up (Express)

Griffiths backed over Hearts singing

Stenhousemuir’s John Gemmell says he is stunned Leigh Griffiths has been handed a Notice of Complaint by SFA Compliance officer Vincent Lunny after has was filmed singing “Hearts are going bust” before last weekend’s Edinburgh derby.

Gemmell was censured by the SFA for calling Rangers manager Ally McCoist a “p****” on Twitter after he complained about the Ibrox side’s fixture schedule of four games in 11 days.

The striker took to Twitter again to defend Griffiths.

He tweeted: “Don’t see what #LeighGriffths has done wrong? No swearing or anything just banter at a game with the team he supports #WorldGoneMad #Hide.

“Can’t believe he is up in front of a panel for that #PrayForSanity.”

Split fixtures announced

Aberdeen and Motherwell face a potential final day showdown for second place in the SPFL Premiership after the fixtures for the split were announced yesterday.

The pair will face each other on May 11 at Pittodrie.

Celtic will be presented with their title trophy following their home clash to Dundee United the same day. (Scotsman)

Hearts live to fight another day

Gary Locke’s 10 man Hearts side battled to 1 - 1 draw with Aberdeen to stave off the threat of relegation for at least another match.

To survive Hearts will have to win all their remaining games and depend on St Mirren losing the six matches they have left. (Scotsman)

McCoist backs McCulloch over Kayal tackle

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has backed Lee McCulloch following comments by Celtic’s Beram Kayal over a tackle made in an Old Firm match in 2011.

Kayal was injured in a tackle from McCulloch in the match and has since to recover his early promising form at Parkhead. The Israeli said the Rangers captain deliberately set out to injure him,

McCoist retorted that McCulloch is a “hard but honest player” and said that Kayal was fortunate not to have played in some of the older Old Firm games when John Brown and Roy Aitken were involved. (Scotsman)

No bad blood between Rangers and Raith - McCoist

Ally McCoist insisted he had a “great relationship” with Raith Rovers chairman Turnbull Hutton despite the Rangers manager urging for the identity of the SFA judiciary panel - which fined the club £160,000 and installed a one year transfer embargo - to be revealed.

The request led to Rovers director Eric Drysdale being identified as being on the panel and then subjected to threats.

Turnbull Hutton then waded into the debate calling attempts by the SPL and SFL to parachute Rangers in the first division had made the organisations a “dead parrot” and “corrupt”.

Hutton insisted Rangers had to start again in Division 3. (Scotsman)
