Brown injury woe

Scott Brown could miss Celtic’s Europa League clash with Molde in Norway next week after he was carried off during training when he rolled on his ankle earlier this week.

The skipper is to undergo testing to see how severe the damage is and will almost certainly miss tomorrow’s match with Motherwell.

Deila said: “It is too early to say something about it. We have to ask assess him more and see the reaction of the swelling. He twisted his ankle today in a passing exercise.” (Daily Record)

Ex-Barcelona man impresses Rangers

Mark Warburton has hinted that he could have found a perfect fit for Rangers in Israeli international Gai Assulin, as the 24-year-old looks to win a deal at the club.

The former Barcelona wonderkid has already caught the eye of the Rangers boss, but he is keeping an open mind.

“I’ve only seen him for one day and I’ve witnessed a top player,” said Warburton. “But you have got to look at a player over the course of a few days and see how they do and then take it further.” (Glasgow Evening Times)

Will Souttar stay?

Dundee United have warned Celtic and Rangers away from rising star John Souttar by dangling a new deal in front of the youngster which will see him become the club’s joint highest paid player at just 19.

The Glasgow clubs are thought to be circling as Souttar’s contract comes up in the summer, but the bosses at Tannadice are hopeful of keeping him.

Chairman Stephen Thompson said: “He was offered a contract to make him the equally highest-paid player at the club at the age of 19.

“I think if you look at that there is not much more the club can do. But things may change, I don’t know. Now we have a new head coach his attitude might change. (The Scotsman)

Mixu secret talks were rumbled by binmen

Mixu Paatelainen’s secret talks with Dundee United were rumbled because of some passing binmen, according to Stephen Thompson.

With mystery surrounding the identity of Dundee United’s new boss earlier this week, the United chairman revealed how the cat almost got out of the bag early.

“Mixu was coming down to my house for a chat and to get the last few details sorted,” he said. “As he was pulling up, there was a bin lorry passing and the guys in the cab were shouting they hoped he got the job.

Neilson tells Hearts players to keep their cool

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson has slammed his players over their discipline, after they mounted up three red cards and 26 bookings in their first ten Premiership games.

Speaking as they gear up to face Dundee on Sunday, Neilson said: “We don’t want to have players suspended. It’s not a good image to give to the supporters or the young players in the academy.

Players make mistakes, but that’s something we’re looking to improve on.”
