Gauld completes Sporting Lisbon move

DUNDEE United midfielder Ryan Gauld has completed his move to Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon for a fee in the region of £2 million.

The 18-year-old has signed a six-year deal with Sporting and is believed to have a €60 million release clause. He will also enjoy Champions League football with his new club.

Dig deep for van Dijk, Celtic tell Toon

NEWCASTLE United have been told to cough up £8 million if they want to sign Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk.

The 22-year-old Dutch stopper has been watched by a number of clubs, with Southampton believed to be leading the chase for the Hoops centre half.

The Magpies have reportedly had the player watched, but also face competition from La Liga outfit Sevilla.

Celtic No 2 John Collins recently insisted it would take ‘silly money’ to prise van Dijk away from Celtic Park. (Chronicle)

Ambrose will see out Celtic contract

EFE Ambrose has told African media that he will ‘see through’ his contract at Celtic.

The 25-year-old defender, who has been playing in the World Cup for Nigeria, told AfricanFootball.com: “I have two years left on my contract with Celtic. I am presently very happy at the club and enjoying my football. And so I will see through my contract.”

Ambrose has been linked with moves to England after impressing since his arrival from Ashdod in 2012. (AfricanFootball.com)

Gordon deal close as Celtic braced for Forster bid

CELTIC are closing in on a deal to bring former Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon to Celtic Park as they Hoops brace themselves for a bid for Fraser Forster.

Gordon is expected to be unveiled in the next few days, with Atletico Madrid believed to be preparing an £8 million bid for Forster.

Although manager Ronny Deila said there had been no contact from the Champions League finalists, the signing of Gordon will offer Celtic a contingency plan as they continue preparations for Europe. (Daily Record)

Ex-Rangers director enjoys shares windfall

FORMER Rangers director Brian Stockbridge was given over 714,000 shares in the club worth £215,000 following a deal made with Charles Green, it has been revealed.

Ex-finance chief Stockbridge, who left the club in January, had a clause in the contract he signed in 2012.

It is believed to be part of a ‘legacy’ of deals signed after Green’s takeover, with the current board having no control over the issue.

The shares mean Stockbridge has a 1.1 per cent interest in the Ibrox club, with the current vale of shares around 30p - meaning he could be in line for serious money if he chooses to sell. (The Herald)

EX-Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra has revealed he wants to finish his career at Ibrox.

The Algerian defender, who played in his country’s 1-0 defeat to Germany, told The Scotsman he was keen on a return to the English Premier League, but added: “I really want to come back to Rangers to finish my career there.

“If I can play one more game there that is enough for me.” (The Scotsman)

Rangers in for Zaliukas

RANGERS could also be set to bring former Hearts captain Marius Zaliukas back to Scotland.

The Lithuanian is due to join up with the Ibrox side for training today, prior to a deal being struck later this week.

Zaliukas is being freed by Leeds United after being left out of their pre-season trip to Italy, and will join Ally McCoist’s side just a year after an initial deal fell through.

The 30-year-old spent seven years with Hearts before being released last summer. A move to Rangers looked likely until QPR stepped in, with the defender joining Leeds when the Loftus Road side stalled on a deal.

He made 15 appearances for Leeds last season. (The Scotsman)

Stubbs eyes Everton loans to boost Hibs

ALAN Stubbs could bring in some of the players he nurtured at Everton in a bid to bolster the Hibs squad.

KILMARNOCK have signed former Aberdeen striker Lee Miller - their second signing in days after confirming the arrival of former Hibs and Partick Thistle winger Paul Cairney.
