Ryan Gauld send to Sporting Lisbon B team

Former Dundee United starlet Ryan Gauld, 18, has been demoted to Sporting Lisbon’s B team following his £3m move in the summer.

Lisbon boss Marco Silva says the player has struggled to settle in his new surroundings.

Scotland under-21 coach Mark Wotte however said that the news was nothing to worry about as Gauld is still developing as a player and that the B team play opposition better than that found in Scotland. (Mail)

Celtic seal loan signings of Tonev and Jason Denayer

The Parkhead club have signed Bulgarian Aleksandar Tonev on a year-long loan deal from Aston Villa with the option to buy the 24 year-old at the end of his term.

The midfielder has won 15 caps for Bulgaria and Villa hoped he could be a Premier League threat when Paul Lambert signed him from Lech Poznan in June 2013. (Scotsman)

Hibs fans group vow to see off rivals

The Forever Hibernian fans’ group, led by former player Paul Kane, says it is committed to its own plans for a supporter-led takeover at Easter Road, despite the emergence of another interested consortium.

Advisor to ex-Celtic majority shareholder Fergus McCann, David Low, and former Hibs chairman Malcolm McPherson are reported to have put together a £3.5m bid for the club.

A club spokesman said however that the club was not actively considering any offers.

Reports persist however that owner Tom Farmer would be receptive to a bid for his stake should the money be right. (Express)

Legia plan court action over Champions League decision

Legia Warsaw say they will take their appeal to the Court of Arbitration in Switzerland should their request to UEFA be knocked back as expected tomorrow morning. (Mail)

• Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has welcomed Uefa’s decision to throw Legia Warsaw out of the Champions League, describing Celtic’s reprieve as a “great chance to go again”.

Strachan admitted the affair was “really cruel” on Legia Warsaw, who confirmed last night that their appeal against Uefa’s decision will be heard tomorrow, but the Scotland manager believes no decision could be made other than demote the Polish club to the Europa league while reinstating Celtic in the Champions League. Aberdeen plan new stadium and training ground

Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne yesterday announced he estimates the club will be playing in a new stadium away from Pittodrie by 2017.

Plans to relocate the club to a new venue in the city appeared to have come to a halt in recent seasons but Milne insists work is very much in progress behind the scenes to reduce the debt that will give the Dons the green light to proceed. He further revealed his intention to be able to announce details of a new training facility in the coming months.(Scotsman)

Coventry’s Danny Seaborne signs for Partick Thistle

Danny Seaborne has revealed how former boss Steven Pressley helped to convince him to move to Partick Thistle.

The defender, 27, has penned a two-year deal with the Firhill club following his departure from Coventry.

The centre-half made 16 appearances under Pressley last season and says the Sky Blues manager had a big part to play in his switch north of the border. (Scotsman)
