Strachan urges Keane to take Celtic job

SCOTLAND manager Gordon Strachan has called on Roy Keane to accept the manager’s job at Celtic.

Strachan, who was in charge during the former Manchester United’s spell at Parkhead in 2006, said: “I have no idea whether or not (Keane) will be a good fit for Celtic but, personally, I think it is a great job for anybody to take.

“Whoever is lucky enough to be offered it, I think they should take it. It’s a terrific job.” (Mail)

Rangers fans call for season ticket clarity

BOSSES at Rangers should tell the club’s supporters exactly how many season tickets have been sold for the 2014-15 campaign, according to the Union of Fans group.

In a statement, the Union said: “We urge Graham Wallace and the board to come clean about how many season tickets they have sold and how much cleared income in the bank these sales have provided.

“Instead of the usual announcement following the deadline there has been silence.” (Herald)

Kayal could make Israel return

OUT-of-favour Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal could be set for a return to Israel.

Kayal, who has fallen down the Parkhead pecking order after a string of injuries, has been linked with a move to Maccabi Haifa. The Israeli side are reportedly eyeing a move once Celtic have a new manager in place.

The 26-year-old has made 80 appearances for Celtic since joining the club in 2010. (Sun)

Murray warns Edinburgh sides of Championship danger

DUMBARTON boss Ian Murray has warned Hearts and Hibs not to underestimate their opponents in the Championship next season.

Both capital sides and Rangers will join the second tier next season, and Murray believes that complacency could cost the new boys dearly.

Murray said: “The sooner the three accept they are Championship clubs the easier it will be for them. If they don’t, they’ll get a rude awakening. If they think teams in this league aren’t going to be ready for them, they’re wrong.” (Record)

Norwich keen on SFA performance chief Wotte

ENGLISH Championship side Norwich City could make a move for SFA Performance Director Mark Wotte.

According to the Express, the Canaries are keen for the Dutchman to take on the role of Technical Director as they aim to return to the Premier League.

Wotte has been responsible for a number of changes in Scotland’s elite youth set-up - his main contender for the Norwich job is thought to be Celtic chief scout John Park. (Express)

Ross County fans to get free away day travel

ROSS County chairman Roy MacGregor is set to offer the club’s fans free travel to every away game next season.

MacGregor said: “We want to do a lot of stuff this season. I’m probably going to do free buses for our away support.

“I’m also going to create a matchday experience outside the ground like they do at Man City, I want people at the ground at 12:30.” (Record)
