Ex-Legia player says Maribor win was revenge
Maribor star Marko Suler revealed he was determined to dump Celtic out of the Champions League as revenge for his
former team-mates at Legia Warsaw.
Former Legia star Suler admitted he had been handed an extra incentive to win after Uefa’s’s decision to kick his old club out of the competition for fielding a suspended player.
Suler said: “I believe by winning at Celtic I got revenge on behalf of Legia.
“I know all the Legia players and fans were keeping their fingers crossed for us.
“And I was delighted we qualified on their behalf.
“Legia were treated harshly, everyone knows that, but I am convinced they will get into the Champions League next year because they deserve it.
“After the game, I received so many messages from my friends in Poland that my phone battery died.
“This was a great win at a place like Celtic - it is something to tell the grandchildren.”
