Rangers: No cost cut across the board, says Wallace

RANGERS chief executive Graham Wallace has rejected the notion of sweeping cuts at the club, stating that some areas of the business will receive continued investment.

In his programme notes yesterday, Wallace said: “This is about identifying what we need in all areas of the club in order for us to be successful.

“This will also mean additional spend in certain areas. As we progress back to the Premiership, demands of competition naturally become greater.” (Herald)

United’s Thompson: Don’t waste my time over stars

DUNDEE United chairman Stephen Thompson has issued a warning to clubs hoping to snap up his team’s stars on the cheap.

Thompson said: “No one will leave United this month - unless a very exceptional offer comes in. And by exceptional offer, I don’t mean £400,000 or £500,000.

“We don’t need to sell. We want to build this team up, not dismantle it.” (Record)

Mjallby: ‘Samaras should re-think move’

CELTIC assistant coach Johan Mjallby has called on Georgios Samaras to think long and hard about a possible move away from Celtic.

Mjallby said: “It could be very difficult for Sami if he signs for a club which isn’t competing for titles. He loves it at Celtic where he fights for trophies.

“He is well off financially anyway. When he finishes he can look at the prize cabinet and bank account.” (Record)

Aberdeen lead chase for Goodwillie

ABERDEEN are poised to snap up Dundee United striker David Goodwillie when his loan from Blackburn Rovers ends after today’s game with Caley Thistle.

The Pittodrie club face a battle with League One sides Oldham and Notts County to sign the former Scotland international, who played with Dons boss Derek McInnes at Dundee United.

Goodwillie, 24, is keen to get his career back on track in the Granite City after two years in the wilderness following his £2.8m move south. (Sun on Sunday)

Killie’s Johnston keen to keep Boyd

ALLAN Johnston is eager to retain the skills - and influence - of former Scotland striker Kris Boyd, who is a target of former side Nottingham Forest.

Johnston said: “Billy Davies had Kris down at Forest before but so far we’ve had no contact.

“We want to keep Boydy because he is a top player. It’s not just his goals, he is a big influence on the younger boys.” (Record)

‘Rogic should leave Celtic’ - Bosnich

CELTIC’S Australian midfielder Tom Rogic will have to quit Parkhead to save his World Cup dream, according to Socceroos legend Mark Bosnich.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper says Rogic needs to leave the Hoops - even if only on loan - to get more game time before the Brazil showpiece.

Rogic has made just 15 first-team appearances for Celtic since he joined the club last January. (Sun on Sunday)
