Lennon hails ‘dominant’ Celtic

NEIL Lennon has praised his Celtic side’s “dominance” in Scottish football, as they wrapped up the SPFL Premiership title last night with seven games in hand.

Lennon said: “It’s in this club’s DNA to win championships. I’ve now been involved in nine in 14 years. It’s been a period of real dominance.

“We’ve really progressed as a club in the last few years, but we want to take it even further. We don’t want this to end.” (Sun)

Rangers announce £3.5m loss

RANGERS have revealed a £3.5 million loss for the six months to the end of 2013, in their latest interim accounts.

The club took in £13.1m from July to December last year, but spent £16.6m in the same period.

The statement to the LSE also revealed that the club spent £1.4m on stadium Wi-Fi, LED advertising boards and stadium screens. (Scotsman)

Hearts braced for more admin delays

ADMINISTRATORS at Hearts are braced for further delays in Lithuania after hearing that creditors in collapsed major shareholder UBIG are to meet next month.

The bank’s creditors are due to meet on 7 April, meaning the transfer of shares from UBIG to the Bidco hoping to take over the team will not take place until the end of the month at the earliest.

Administrators say they only have money in the bank to keep the club going until the end of March. (Scotsman)

Belgians in for Tony Watt

BELGIAN Pro League sides KV Oostende and Zulte-Waregem are reportedly interested in signing up Celtic striker Tony Watt.

Watt has spent a tumultuous season on loan at Lierse SK, in which he has scored eight league goals but repeatedly clashed with manager Stanley Menzo.

Waregem are thought to be prepared to offer £650,000 to sign up Watt, with Oostende also keen to make a permanent deal for the striker. (Herald)

Hibs’ Hanlon set to miss Hearts clash

HIBERNIAN stopper Paul Hanlon looks set to miss out on Saturday’s Edinburgh derby with Hearts, which could see the Gorgie side relegated.

Hanlon said: “It’s horrible being injured especially with such a massive game coming up. I’ve not had a knee problem like this before… but hopefully I will be back soon.”

If Hibs beat Hearts and other results go against the Tynecastle team, they will be relegated. (Record)

SFA to put up candidate for FIFA vice-presidency

SCOTLAND could soon have a representative at the top of world football, after SFA boss Stewart Regan revealed that the governing body will put forward an option for Britain’s FIFA vice-presidency.

England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales rotate stewardship of Britain’s FIFA role, which is currently held by Northern Ireland’s Jim Boyce.

Regan said: “We in Scotland will put forward a candidate that will be considered for the position in 2015 and they will be given the chance to network across Europe before the vote.” (Herald)
