Rangers agree £1.5m loan deal

RANGERS have agreed a £1.5 million loan deal from two of their key shareholders.

Sandy Easdale will loan the club £500,000, while investment firm Laxey Partners will lend Rangers £1 million. Easdale’s loan is interest-free, while Laxey have agreed a 15% fee on the loan.

The loans, secured against the club’s Edmiston House headquarters and car park, are set to be repaid by September 1. (Scotsman)

Scotland ‘can definitely qualify for Euros’ - Strachan

GORDON Strachan believes his Scotland side can make it to the 2016 European Championships in France, after drawing one of the toughest qualifying groups on offer.

Scotland will take on Germany, Georgia, Poland, the Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar, but Strachan believes his side can make it through.

He said: “If we play at the level we can play at we can definitely qualify. If we keep all our players fit we’ll have a chance, and I think Ireland, Poland and Georgia will be thinking the same.” (Various)

Euro reaction: O’Neill wants Celtic Park return, Gibraltar coach thrilled

• REPUBLIC of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill has admitted that he is looking forward to the prospect of taking his side to Celtic Park. The national stadium will be out of action when the two sides meet. (Scotsman)

• DAVE Wilson, the Scottish assistant coach of Gibraltar, has said that leading his team out at Hampden will be one of his proudest moments. (Sun)

• GERMANY boss Joachim Low has described his side’s draw as “okay”. He said: “I’ve only seen Scotland on television, but after the World Cup I will begin to study them closely.” (Various)

Templeton ‘wanted to cry’ over Stenny sitter

DAVID Templeton has admitted that his Rangers side should not have drawn with Stenhousemuir on Saturday.

The winger missed an easy chance to score, and said afterwards: “I just wanted to go home and cry about it. It was an open goal and I was thinking I could tap it in. It is the worst miss I have had in my life.”

He added: “We definitely should be beating Stenhousemuir, but we just weren’t good enough on the day.” (Mail)

Nir Biton enjoying Celtic, but not the weather

CELTIC’S Israeli midfielder Nir Biton says the Scottish weather is the only thing putting a dampener of his spell at Parkhead.

Biton said: “Except for the weather, everything is good. In Israel it is maybe 21 degrees now, so expect for that I feel comfortable on and off the pitch.

“It’s taken me a couple of months because the football is a little different from Israel… there is a faster tempo.” (Record)

Hearts hurt by Griffiths goal - Nicholson

SAM Nicholson says Leigh Griffiths’ goal for Celtic was particularly hard for Hearts to take.

Nicholson said: “We didn’t want any of them to score, but Leigh Griffiths scoring is a wee bit hurtful.

“However, we can take a lot of positives from that performance and the run of results we’ve had.” (Record)
