Mike Ashley to increase stake in Rangers

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is set to increase his stake in the Ibrox club as part of the club’s £4m share issue as fans groups demanded that Ibrox not be renamed.

Ashley has an existing share holding in the club and had previously agreed with departed chief executive Charles Green that the stadium be renamed after his firm SportsDirect. (Sun)

Celtic close in on Mubarek loan deal

Celtic are in talks with Russian side Rubin Kazan over a season-long loan move for £4m rated Wakaso Mubarek with a view to a permanent deal next summer.

The Parkhead side are looking to tie up the move before their crucial Champions League tie against Maribor on Wednesday how, according to reports, the 24 year-old is unlikely to be signed before tonight’s European deadline. (Sun)

Hibs boss Stubbs feels ‘robbed’ after derby loss

Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs said he felt “robbed” after yesterday’s 2 - 1 derby loss to city rivals Hearts.

Two players were sent off during the match with referee Willie Collum dismissing Hibs midfielder Scott Robertson and Hearts striker Osman Sow.

Robertson was sent off for a second yellow with the Tynecastle side also given a penalty leaving Stubbs feeling aggrieved. (Scotsman)

• Hearts player Jamie Walker could face an SFA charge after appearing to headbutt Hibs’ Lewis Stevenson during yesterday’s Edinburgh derby. The incident occurred in the final moments of the ill-tempered match which saw seven players booked and two red carded and was missed by referee Willie Collum.

The incident could now be reexamined by the SFA’s compliance officer. (Sun)
